Totnes Mini Head 2006 |
|
Dart-Totnes rowing club is getting ready for it's
annual Mini Head race this Sunday, November 19th. This year there will
be two divisions instead of the traditional three, dictated largely by
the tides. In years past the last division has been a race against
darkness as much as the clock with the tide times pushing racing into
twilight.
This year early entry figures indicate there will
be approximately 60 crews in each division and comparable to past
years entry figures with crews expected from as far afield as
Hampshire. As usual local crews will make up the bulk of the entries
with a huge number coming from the host club despite the London Head
of the River Veterans race being on the same day.
Totnes rowing club has just elected a new captain
and vice-captain - Suzanne Hutchings and Simon French respectively.
Both are leading the way with winter training and rowing events with
Simon promoting a dry rowing club sub-section for people who like the
idea of rowing, but not on the water. The mini-head will be a test of
their leadership with so many athletes competing for the finite number
of club boats.
